Traveling with a Pet
Going somewhere for a few days and taking your furry friend along for the adventure? While it’s recommended that you only travel with pets small enough to put under the seat, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Here are some pointers to help you make this experience hassle free for both yourself and your furry friend, no matter what size.
- If you’re flying, book a direct flight whenever possible. This will decrease the chances for any mishaps.
- Make an appointment with your pet’s vet prior to your trip to make sure they’re fit for travel.
- Purchase an approved shipping crate and make sure it has proper identification
- Inform all airline personnel both on the ground and on board the flight that you’re traveling with a pet in the cargo hold.
- Reach out to our NCIA staff to discuss options for both travel insurance and pet insurance policies to make sure you and your furry bestie get to where you need to be, safe and sound.
